LINQUISTIC RESEARCH FOR INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION
CONSCIOUS INNOVATION SINCE 2001
SMG Languages conducts research in the field of linguistics and the development of working processes for critical projects in translation, communication, linguistic intelligence, knowledge management and the development of intercultural relations.
The research is carried out by SMG’s Language Research Institute (CRL), founded in 2001 with the aim of studying linguistic, cultural and technological developments in the field of communication within highly complex contexts. The CRL’s work focuses primarily on developing solutions that integrate human expertise with innovative and secure technologies, whilst maintaining an attentive and informed strategic vision.
The development of communication and intelligence solutions for government departments and industrial organisations is based on stringent requirements for confidentiality, accuracy, scalability and interoperability.
AREAS IN WHICH WE OPERATE
- Optimisation of human translation and writing processes through the considered and selective use of artificial intelligence and computational linguistics systems that support translators, for example to standardise terminology or identify and retrieve matching segments of text from previous translations.
- Development of procedures that ensure the correct and consistent use of specialist terminology, supported by authoritative sources.
- Solutions for knowledge management based on multi-channel systems.
- Development of systems for organising, monitoring and evaluating the work of translators, editors and content writers.
- Solutions for advanced intercultural communication in high-risk contexts, such as language services intended for crisis-hit areas or subject to confidentiality procedures.
