An explanatory translation supplements the translated text with specific notes and information that draw the reader’s attention to any relevant differences from the original text:

• In legal texts, an explanatory translation highlights differences between the legal system and legislation of the document’s country of origin and those applicable to the client.
• In technical texts, it highlights references to foreign regulations and identifies corresponding applicable standards.
• In cultural texts, this form of translation makes the text more accessible to the reader, as it not only translates the text but also emphasises the intention and communicative impact of the message.

Depending on the client’s needs, our linguists can incorporate explanatory content directly into the translation, include it in the form of translator’s notes, or provide a separate document containing the relevant explanations and comments.
