Translations for the Italian arms industry guaranteed by the licence pursuant to Art. 28 of the Consolidated Law on Public Security (TULPS)

Many companies and institutions operating in the arms industry in Italy often select their suppliers from among those authorised to manufacture and market arms.

This authorisation is normally granted in order to regulate and limit the manufacturing and marketing of these products, as in Italy and Europe they are, by nature, subject to stringent regulations. In particular, in Italy, the import and export of military weapons were initially regulated by the Consolidated Law on Public Security (Testo Unico delle Leggi di Pubblica Sicurezza, TULPS), later replaced by Law No 185 of 9 July 1990. Therefore, to date, a special licence is required in order to manufacture and market military weapons and similar weapons, which is granted by the prefectures subject to compliance with very strict requirements and criteria.

Companies not directly involved in the manufacturing and marketing of arms can also apply for this licence if their customers include companies in the arms industry and they wish to secure their services with an additional guarantee of specialisation that certifies their expertise in the field.
